Thailand's youth demand change ahead of elections

Thailand is Cambodia's neighbor to the West, and this forum is dedicated to Thai news, stories, reviews, blogs, videos, Thai people and anything else related to the country. A lot of expats have both lived and worked in Cambodia and Thailand, and this area is a place to discuss all aspects of life in Thailand and what's going on there. Most topics are about Bangkok and Pattaya because of their larger populations of expatriates and tourists in those cities, but this is for all things Thai.

Thai youth protesting? What could go wrong?

Let the back room negations begin as either Palang Pracharat or Pheu Thai try to cobble together a coalition and form a government. Both parties claim they have the 'right' to form a government.

The BumJaiThai Party is emerging as the crucial government-maker. Even without their support it appears (we're just counting on our fingers and toes here) that Pheu Thai might still be able to form a coalition government

The point still stands. That was 1976. What happened to the protesting students in 1992? The protestors in 2013-14? You know they'll slam these protestors too.

No, but if I were, I'd say the military will declare the election null and void, and do whatever they want (for the sake of peace and stability).

They'll probably just have to kill a few hundred people again for the sake of peace and security. Then it'll all be quickly forgotten.
Meanwhile foreign reporters will complain about how undemocratic Cambodia is, where there haven't been any massacres for over 2 decades.

The outcome of Thailand's first post-coup elections was still unclear Monday with no party taking a decisive lead, amid mounting concerns over alleged voting irregularities and ongoing delays in the release of official results.

With 95% of the vote counted, Pheu Thai won 137 out of 350 seats, the Election Commission said Monday. The pro-military party Palang Pracharat took 97 seats.

Parties are still waiting to hear how many party list lawmakers they will get -- 150 are up for grabs in the lower house and they could prove decisive in who wins a majority.
This is the one that hit me, The on the ground locals prefer military rule than that rich fucker Thaksin.
On Sunday, Palang Pracharat inched ahead in the popular vote with 7.69 million votes, while Pheu Thai Party received 7.2 million votes.
i vote for Palang Pracharat' taking it an running the country after all, what can anyone else do?

they have 250 from the senate, add another 97, 347, only need another 29 votes for majority 376..out of the 150 undecided.

LOL:
Petition to impeach EC hits 660,000 names

BANGKOK: Hundreds of thousands of netizens have signed a petition on the change.org website calling for the nation’s election commissioners to be purged in the aftermath of the March 24 election, which the petition organiser claims was marred by blunders and malpractice.

Several allegations of malpractice have been made including that the number of ballots exceeded the number of voters in some areas, and in some, voter turnout was reported to be 200%.

Voting irregularities in Asian elections???????/// Wash your mouth out with soap.
Did they have to dip the finger to be able to go to work next day or lose a job?
Were their family in the provinces visited and "encouraged " to get kids to return and vote?

No problems then...

well, its been over a week and still no results. :beer1:

who would have thought that LL
BUT at least only a little violence.
A coup leader triumphs as civilian prime minister, an alliance of parties unite to stop him, or a parliamentary deadlock forces another political crisis -- the outcome of Thailand's disputed election remains undecided a week after the poll.

So what next? Here are the possible scenarios for how the election could play out.
