Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway - Now Open

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Those renderings always show everywhere outside the road/condominium/borey as a beautiful landscape of gardens, trees and lushness.
Silence, exile, and cunning.

Cambodia News (Kampong Speu): On 1 July 2022, Lieutenant Colonel Pov Noeun, Police Inspector of Phnom Sruoch District, reported an accident which occurred at 15:45hrs on the Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville expressway section at Peam Tung Village, Treng Trayeung Commune, Phnom Sruoch District, Kampong Speu Province.

The accident involved a white Toyota Alphard vehicle (2BF-8590) driven by 39 years old Pak Poeun, who lived in Prey Khla Village, Prey Kandeang Commune, Peam Ro District, Prey Veng Province. The car was carrying 4 passengers, 3 Korean businessmen and an 18-year-old Cambodian woman: 57 years old Korean national An Jung Ho, 40 years old Korean national Isha, 46 years old Korean national Kim Yong Hun, and 18 year old Min Thida.

According to Phnom Sruoch District Traffic Expert, Lieutenant Colonel Pov Noeun, the car was driving in the left lane when it tried to avoid another unidentified car driving in the opposite direction. The driver then applied the brakes hard while the car was speeding, causing the car to overturn several times and severely injuring all passengers in the vehicle. The vehicle was completely damaged.

Police rescued the victims and sent them to the hospital. The car was stored at the Phnom Sruoch District Police Inspectorate, pending an inquiry into the accident.

Somehow that just doesn't seem right.

I think this is going to be a disaster and I´m going to predict that death tolls will increase dramtically , especially in the first few months.

Many drivers do it the wrong way, one foot on the brake, one foot on the gas pedal.....

Would that cause the car to overturn several times.

It would explain the speeding + braking at the same time.
