Actually, that makes more sense coz the odds of a rat not being able to avoid a car are slim come to think of it.John Bingham wrote: ↑Thu Feb 28, 2019 11:16 amMost of those squashed rats on the roads weren't hit by cars. They are rats that have been killed or died on someone's property, people then throw them into the street to dispose of them.clutchcargo wrote: ↑Thu Feb 28, 2019 9:04 am Then again, some of them suffer an ugly ending as they cross the road only to be suitably squashed by a car...

Dogs are better at it

Once saw a rat in Kampot run out from a drain onto the road and grab a Pigeon and with feathers flying drag it back down into its lair.

Yes, unfortunately they have a terrible reputation as a result of spreading infection during the bubonic plague.
As you say, they are intelligent and believe it or not domesticated rats make wonderful pets and are actually very affectionate. I know coz my daughter had 2 female rats and after they passed we followed up with 2 male rats. Unfortunately, they only live for 2-3 years altho they are not high maintenance and you're not making a 15 yr commitment as you do with a dog or cat.

Our dog is a great rat catcher. She's got a 6 week old litter of pups if anyone wants one.

Good idea. Give all the backpackers and expats rats instead of “forever home” dogs.clutchcargo wrote: ↑Fri Mar 01, 2019 9:21 pmYes, unfortunately they have a terrible reputation as a result of spreading infection during the bubonic plague.
