Gibbons roaming around Phnom Penh

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. Almost exactly year after this thread and I just had a surprising encounter with a Gibbons and her baby at Soviet Khmer friendship hospital.
I guess they are afraid of the coronavirus too

All joking aside I was by the moto parking area underneath a tin roof. About 4 meters away I noticed what thought was a cat silently falling out of a tree at first. But low and behold, it was a gibbons that came down to investigate a fresh dragon fruit peel. There was around 10 of us and she really had no fear. I have great pictures and a hilarious video of her baby (older and very independent) running away and playing and its mother chasing after it. I could almost here mama cursing her baby as she chased after it.
Still here, in country...

They belong to a well-known tycoon who has a compound on the block. They are allowed to wander about the neighborhood. You can sometimes see peacocks and hornbills roaming about too.
Silence, exile, and cunning.

I have seen the peacocks once too. My wife thought that she came from a big compound. The locals there said they come at 10 or 11 pm at night which is a hard pill to swallow since I thought they were diurnal.
