Get to work on yours Hoss. That'd be a page-turner I'd look forward to reading. The adventures of squeaky could take up a chapter all by herself.

Re: Chapter 1 of Dancing in Circles
There might be a little bullshit, but not much. I was just reminiscing about the time an old drunk expat got furious at me in Walkabout and called me a c*nt. Ah, the good old days!Felgerkarb wrote: ↑Wed Feb 20, 2019 12:25 pm I always enjoy reading expat stories about their time in the KoW, be they nail biters or simple prose. A lot of bullshit in most of them...I expect yours will contain none.
Look forward to reading more, thanks for sharing, CC.
Ken dragged me out of there. He thought the guy was gonna hit me.
I told him his gf was "faking" a certain something when I got tired of his nasty drivel.

isn't it refreshing to express an opinion that's not about a poor guy in his underwear with handcuffs?"
Can't be bothered with that now. I'm in the middle of a GoFundMe project to save a cat.

Beautifully written, Deb/CC - I've recently become a professional proofreader (among other things) and wouldn't change a thing in your opening chapter. You share your heart and grief openly and well in a way that anyone with similar experiences would find immediately approachable.

Thanks so much, StroppyChops. It's only part of a chapter. Things get worse until they get better....then it's chapter 2! I'm establishing early in the book what kind of person packs things up and leaves.StroppyChops wrote: ↑Wed Feb 20, 2019 2:23 pm Beautifully written, Deb/CC - I've recently become a professional proofreader (among other things) and wouldn't change a thing in your opening chapter. It's especially uncommon for women to agree to live in a "developing" country like Cambodia.
It's my memoir, so you get to know who I am before we go to Cambodia!
I'm really delighted to have two very "close" readers on this site. Thanks for the time you took on reading/
Currently, I'm having to go through and correct a few issues. I tend to misspell "Ranariddh" and "motodupe."

I thought it was a great piece of writing but I believe many on here didn't get it as it wasn't directly connected to Cambodia. As for that spelling, I don't think you can beat "motodop". To me it doesn't sound at all like the word "dupe" as in to fool.

Motodop it is. I just found it in several online sources as well.John Bingham wrote: ↑Wed Feb 20, 2019 10:38 pmI thought it was a great piece of writing but I believe many on here didn't get it as it wasn't directly connected to Cambodia. Thanks so much, JB! Sure is helpful to have a cadre of literate expat gentlemen in my corner, to be honest.
