All about my home ( Phuket) for 33 1/2 out of the last 35 years

Thailand is Cambodia's neighbor to the West, and this forum is dedicated to Thai news, stories, reviews, blogs, videos, Thai people and anything else related to the country. A lot of expats have both lived and worked in Cambodia and Thailand, and this area is a place to discuss all aspects of life in Thailand and what's going on there. Most topics are about Bangkok and Pattaya because of their larger populations of expatriates and tourists in those cities, but this is for all things Thai.

Phuket is an island and a province. It’s the largest island in Thailand, Phuket is only just an island, linked to the Thai mainland by a 400 metre bridge.

Thanks for posting this. The only islands I've visited in Thailand have been Koh Lipe and Koh Phangan, and I had interesting experiences on both islands. Koh Lipe (in '94) was such a paradise.

these are a few reasons for the move; we want build another house on our land ,GF wants to be closer to her Sisters, nephews, nieces, gf's 4 year thai visa /WP will be coming up for renewal and easier visa for me ( of course with new regulations coming into play)

To tell the truth, if i didn't have a khmer gf i would NOT move there

spent a week on Phuket back in early 2013
hated Patong
the beaches (Kata and Karon) were packed full of europeans
i was staying in Phuket Town though which was nice, quiet, and could get the baht busses to any of the beaches for like 30baht i think it was
never really had any interest in going back, although im sure theres better sides to the island

I stayed at Karon once and hated it. I should have travelled around more but didn't have time.

Thailand is like France. Love the country, not so keen on the people :-) If ti wasn't such a faff getting a visa I would have done it. I have the money in the bank, i just cannot be arsed wityh all the roadblock. Website says one thing, got to immigration they deny it, tell me to go to Embassy in PP. Embassy in PP say immigration are wrong so FO. Rinse, repeat. Seems the only way to get a visa is to go to a dodgy visa agent and pay them to fake bank accounts i do not need to fake just to get the other paperwork done, or go home for a month to apply through the embasy there and thats too expensive in time and money. Thats ok, i fthailand doesn't want my money Cambodia still does - for the moment :hattip:
