Are mini mart clerks regularly screwing me out of 100-200 riel in change?

The people in Iraq, where the normal people aren’t wealthy at all, abondend the 50 dinar note (4 cent worth). What’s this all about actually

:D
I think its the Lancashire gene manifesting itself :plus1:

Stanley Holloway Runcorn Ferry

On the banks of the Mersey, over on Cheshire side,
Lies Runcorn that's best known to fame
By Transporter Bridge as takes folks over t'stream,
Or else brings them back across same.

In days afore Transporter Bridge were put up,
A ferryboat lay in the slip,
And old Ted the boatman would row folks across
At per tuppence per person per trip.

Now Runcorn lay over on one side of stream,
And Widnes on t'other side stood,
And, as nobody wanted to go either place,
Well, the trade wasn't any too good.

One evening, to Ted's superlative surprise,
Three customers came into view:
A Mr and Mrs Ramsbottom it were,
And Albert, their little son, too.

'How much for the three?' Mr Ramsbottom asked,
As his hand to his pocket did dip.
Ted said: 'Same for three as it would be for one,
Per tuppence per person per trip.'

'You're not charging tuppence for that little lad?'
Said Mother, her eyes flashing wild.
'Per tuppence per person per trip', answered Ted,
'Per woman, per man, or per child'.

'Fivepence for three, that's the most that I'll pay',
Said Father, 'Don't waste time in talk'.
'Per tuppence per person per trip', answered Ted,
'And them, as can't pay, 'as to walk!'

'We can walk, an' all', said Father.
'Come Mother, it's none so deep, weather's quite mild'.
So into the water the three of them stepped:
The father, the mother, the child.

The further they paddled, the deeper it got,
But they wouldn't give in, once begun.
In the spirit that's made Lancashire what she is,
They'd sooner be drownded than done.

I was waiting for the inevitable "go home if you do not like it". As certain as death and taxes. And just as annoying.
... true enough, but we're talking about 2.5 cents as if its a worthy topic.
This we can agree on.

One thing I hate about this particular minimart
why you go there in the first place?.
But I'm not, so I just passive aggressively roll my eyes at the clerk each time wondering why they haven't rolled out the red carpet yet, sprinkling it with rose and jasmine petals whilst bowing at a minimum 60 degrees angle.

Now, I'm not the kind of guy to argue over 100 riel. But will I argue over 200 riel? Absolutely. Will have them barricades up in no time. How dare they rob me in broad daylight of 8 dollar cents or an equivalent of 0.0000145812 bitcoins.
We go back and forth on this for a while, and she outlasts me. Never underestimate their stamina

I go back to the same minimart yesterday, no shit having actually forgotten about the incident a week earlier.but they haven't

I can't do the math on that. say no more
glad to get that out of my system. unleash the kraken of shitstorm in 5..4..3

A quick internet search shows that a number of mini-mart chain stores in Phnom Penh are not Khmer, but are owned by foreigners. A few examples:
Smile is owned by Kirk Mc Canus, who is either Australian or Canadian according to the two articles below:

https://phnompenhpost.com/business/supe ... branch-out

There were also two Frenchmen in the news for running copycat Smile minimarts.

Kiwi/ Llama Marts also seems to be owned and run by foreigners.
