Kampot vs Kep
Kampot vs Kep
I stayed in Kampot for 5 days last August and enjoyed my visit. All places were walkable.
I was considering staying in Kep for 5 days this summer but after doing some research it seems to me that Kep is mostly strung out along a highway . Long walking distances between sites of interest.
What's your advice expats? Stay in Kampot again and do 1 or 2 day trips to Kep or should I take the plunge and book 5 days somewhere in Kep?

Re: Kampot vs Kep
First option.
Re: Kampot vs Kep
Without a car or moto I would say kampot
Re: Kampot vs Kep
I prefer Kep with a stopover to Kampot, but I had my own transportation. Get a decent moto and trek up Bokor mountain one day as well. Really depends on what you want to do with your trip, if drinking heavily is important that is easier in Kampot.
This one says $6 per day rental. You get under 125CC you do not need license, get an airblade I would recommend if they have them.

Re: Kampot vs Kep
staying in Kep you need ur own transport and ur own entertainment.
if u have both, its much nicer than Kampot

In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

Re: Kampot vs Kep
I reckon Kep will take rounds 1-3 but won't have enough power to topple the mighty Kampot, Kampot to close out the fight via knockout by the 10th
Slow down little world, you're changing too fast.

Re: Kampot vs Kep
I thought that KNY was slated as the date the Chinese start their Kampot takeover.
Perhaps best to visit before then?

Re: Kampot vs Kep
I give kampot 6 to 12 months more then the caravan will descend to another place. Maybe kep but I doubt it.
Re: Kampot vs Kep
Every local who owns a piece of land in kep thinks the Chinese are conning with land prices going through the roof in the last 12 months

Re: Kampot vs Kep
Kampot has enough to keep u there 1 week. Just rent a motorcycle and do kep and crab market in 1 day. See pepperfarm, salt flats, and Kampot lotus pond on return.
Nothing to stay in Kep for. But it's a great day out
If u start early you can do Bokor as well.
