I liked to stay at Saravoan-Kep hotel. 1) If you have kids going right down to the beach across the street is a nice activity, as well as small hotel pool.

2) You also have Kep national park that would take a couple hours.

3) Crab market shops on water good for a beer and seafood.

4) Some cave tours I think, I never did them.

5) Pepper farm tours

6) Stop over at Kampot a day

7) Stop over at Bokor a day

Nearly one week down in Kep but you need transportation.

Visit Phnom Chhngok, about 8km out of Kampot near the road to Kep. It holds a cave with the oldest temple in Cambodia predating Angkor Wat, a small 7th century Funan era brick temple dedicated to Shiva. The road to get there is rather bumpy, you will not be able to drink from your can while sitting in the back of a tuk-tuk.

Enjoy more caving and climbing? Book a trip with Climbodia http://www.climbodia.com/

Swimming? Arcadia has a 'waterpark' upriver where the water is clean enough to swim. They charge $7/day for people not staying at their guesthouse http://arcadiabackpackers.com/

The place next-door holds the long waterslide also part of Arcadia and between sits a nice restaurant built on stilts overlooking the river https://youtu.be/qc7EXqdoRQc

Upriver is also Koh Ta Da natural resort with two waterfalls: Thmor Tada Sach Cahaing and Tada Ruong Chan. Near Bokor there is Popokvil Waterfall.

Kep has the Kep Butterflyfarm https://kep-cambodia.com/mainpages/Plac ... -farm.html

When in Kampot eating fresh pulled noodles at Ecran is a must. Located next to the old bridge, already a while no longer near the fish market in the center.

The boats offering firefly tours and/or blasting loud music have doubled in number as there are around a dozen nowadays.

Paradise Gardens https://www.paradisekampot.com/products.html and La Plantation http://kampotpepper.com/are examples of pepperfarms to visit around town.

Depends what you are looking for and what sort of holiday you have in mind. As others have said, Kep is a bit sleepy, but if you live in Phnom Penh then that might be just what you want. I've stayed in Kep before and it can be good, but probably better if you have other people with you. The social life there is "restricted", but at least it's peaceful. Kampot is a more social scene if you are alone and want to go out and meet people.
Or do both ? Half/half.
