People talk about moving to Cambodia and living there for years to come.

In years to come, Cambodia will have changed a lot. People who like to stay in Cambodia now, may not be happy in years to come.

Large numbers of foreigners are leaving China.

yes

But visit first, and get to know the place, before making a permanent move.
OK,thanks for that.I plan to rent in Phnom Penh for a few months, then maybe try Kampot for a month or so.
Not interested in Sihanoukville or Siam Reap, although a trip to Angkhor Wat as part of a mini holiday.
Battambang....I dont know too much about...is it worth a stay for a while ?

I dont like Phnom Penh. It seems many people stay there because they have English speaking mates there.

I suggest, visit the places you mentioned, and others, then decide for yourself. Everyone has different ideas as to what they like and dislike.

Visiting different parts of the country is a fun experience.

If you stay long term, I suggest learning the language. It takes time, but you can have friends other than English speakers.

It's the simple questions that are often harder to answer in this case.. :hattip:

I don't think that's the primary reason. It's the capital and has far more industry/commerce going on than the rest of the country put together. I've only ever lived in capitals, there's no way I'd ever live in any provincial city or the countryside.

I get sick every time I go to the village. Would not recommend living the countryside until there’s been time to built up immunity to the local germs. In my case, never.

I can’t believe I’m actually agreeing with JB about staying in the capital. Or Siem Reap city.
