British guy no passport, no money, asking for cash on 172

British guy no passport, no money, asking for cash on 172

Obviously he's not the first, but what do people think about guys in this situation? Do you give them a dollar and wish them good luck, or just leave them to it?
I'm curious to know what the general consensus is on this kinda fella?

He had indeed been "robbed".
Surely the Embassy help they're own to some extent?

Many of the foreigners who ask for money are in that situation as a result of their own choices.

However, there are probably a small proportion who are in genuine difficulties through no fault of their own.

Any of us can have unfortunate things happen to us, and it could be us.

Because there are so many dishonest people, if you were in a situation like that through no fault of your own, probably very few people would believe you. Probably very few people would help.

I would ask him how he got in that situation, and ask him what he plans to do about it. Dont just guess. Ask him.

In the process, I may get some impression whether he is genuine or not.

If it's a good story I'd buy him a beer. :popcorn:

I don't really care if someone is "deserving" or not when I give them money. Giving someone a buck is not going to help them anyway, it just makes YOU feel like a better person.
Might as well buy them a beer, which also makes you feel like a better person, but it's more social. :beer2:

It's probably a fascinating tale about how the dude rocked up here last year and hooked up with some skank and between them spent every last cent he had on ice. One of these days one of these "rock" stars will write a book. Hopefully they'll remember not to write all 300 pages on top of each other on a piece of cardboard. Maybe this guy is different but most of those guys are lowlife junkie twats. 8)
