Armed Robber Arrested in his Underwear

Kampong Chhnang, Cambodia News: A villager was arrested at Kampong Leng at 10:00 pm on January 7, 2019, after he stole more than 8 million riel at knife-point from a local shop at 6:15 pm at Kompong Boeung Village, Kampong Hao Commune, Kampong Leng District, Kampong Chhnang Province.

Police said that on the night of January 7, the perpetrator went to the shop premises in Kampong Boeung Village and silenced the woman cashier with a knife before stealing 8 million riel from the cash drawer and riding off on his motorbike towards Kampong Thom. Fortunately, some locals on the scene saw the robbery and they gave chase, causing the thief to throw down his knife and hide under a house. The Royal Gendarmerie caught up with the robber at 10:00pm the same evening, and he will appear in Kampong Chhnang court.

Most people are arrested in their underwear, but have clothes on over them. When they get to the station they take their clothes and then take humiliating photos. Unfortunately it gives the false impression that most thieves run around wearing just underpants.

The reverse can apply too if one has already undergone a humiliation.

For example, if arrested drunk and shouting

already in your underpants and covered in dirt coz your clothes got ripped off previously...then, the police will kindly give you a daggy shirt and pants to wear over your underpants.
