The Problem With Chinese Tourists...

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Seems that with the mutual love between the US and China that using the US $ probably does not sit well with many Chinese. Although the yuan value to $ is now the highest in 2 years.

If not now, it will probably not be too long then we will all have to use the yuan in Cambodia.
if its anything like the Chinese here, they use their Chinese bank atm cards for everything

Fuck it, if you can't beat'em, join'em.

I'm going to open up a jumbo shrimp buffet and score some roaring trade off these Chinese tourists.

They looooove the jumbo shrimp, you know:

My parents are sadly typical of this characteristic.

They go only on Chinese tours, not zero dollar ones. They want to follow the tour guide flag starting from getting on the airplane at beginning to getting off the airplane at the end. They relish the fact that they get a sanitized foreign experience wrapped inside Chinese rice. Wake up early to go places. Leave the Chinese cocoon mobile, go en masses for pictures, then move on to the next site. Finish the day late in the evening after having gone to an impossible number of places. Eat Chinese, sleep Chinese. Nice and safe. Like watching a travel show at home.

Going to the wedding, starting with boarding the plane without a chaperone, was completely outside the beaten path of their tour group experience. It took a ton of convincing them that they wouldn’t get sick from the local food, robbed by the locals, etc.

Outside of the next Chinese tour bus to temple town, I doubt they will ever return.

Of course they keep insisting that missus visit them ASAP.
