Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Been trying to find "Firefly Tours" on t'internet, but all I get are the sunset boat trips from Cap'n Chims etc.

Bear in mind, I live in Kampot, but never heard of them/it.

seriously?

yawn.
Do you still think you can suppress discussions about Kampot on CEO? You are not an admin like you are there, Mr Silence It All. We know well how you handle things where power allows you. Bugger off back there where you can read that nothing ever happens in Kampot. We don't need your inane yawning posts here or your permission to continue discussing things that interest us. In plain English: [Mod Edit: Take it down a few notches, thanks.]

go about your business.
no one is "suppressing" that was kind of my point.
i am not a admin on the real noticeboard so you may have me confused with another.
as far as anyone needing anyone's permission to discuss things that "interest you"....... then of course not.
are you always like this?
if so... then my yawn still stands.
if you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space.

Possibly a boat named "Firefly"? Seems to ring half-familiar.

Every second Khmer run guesthouse has their own evening "Firefly tour" also.

Court tries foreign drug suspects

Phnom Penh Municipal Court on Friday tried a Turkish national and his wife, who is from Uzbekistan, for transporting more than half a kilogram of ecstasy and methamphetamine last year in Kampot Province.

Presiding Judge Koy Sao identified the two as 37-year-old Tasedelen Onder and his wife 33-year-old Gyavoa Anjela. Both lived in Kampong Bay commune in Kampot province’s Kampot city.

Judge Sao said they were arrested on December 17 last year by the Interior Ministry’s internal security police department in collaboration with Kampot provincial police. Both were charged with drug use and trafficking.

Judge Sao noted that at about 10am on December 16, provincial police officers stationed at Daun Penh Post Office seized a large box sent from the Netherlands to Cambodia.

Judge Sao said that Mr Onder’s details were enclosed on the label of the box, including his contact number and home address.

During the trial on Friday, Mr Onder admitted committing the offence while his wife Ms Anjela denied the allegations.

Mr Onder told the court that he had ordered the drugs from an unidentified man via a website based in the Netherlands.

Mr Onder said he paid $2,600 for the drugs, adding that he planned to sell it to a Frenchman named Frank, who lives in Preah Sihanouk province.
