Flash Floods in Sihanoukville

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Flash Floods in Sihanoukville

Post by CEOCambodiaNews »

Sihanoukville, Cambodia News: According to the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology, an exceptionally heavy spell of rain in Sihanoukville on December 10, 2018, caused flash flooding, closing some roads in the town.
Many local people believe that the increasingly severe flooding in Sihanoukville is due to the large number of construction sites, which have reduced the habitual runoff areas and contribute to the detritus blocking the drains.

Where are the Japanese drainage engineers and money when you need them most.
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

Breaking news, Sihanoukville: The "new" road from National Road 4 to Otres has been closed for repairs on 20 June until further notice, due to floods and too much heavy vehicle traffic.
The Preah Sihanouk provincial administration has announced that it will temporarily close Sihanoukville’s Street 146C, which connects National Road 4 at the provincial Military Police headquarters with Otres beach on Thursday, as it has been badly damaged by heavy vehicles during the rainy season.

The Post received conflicting reports as to how long the repairs would take, ranging from four days to possibly more than two weeks.

“In order to facilitate smooth and quick repairs of street 146C, Preah Sihanouk provincial administration must temporarily close it from June 20."

Cambodia Breaking News (Sihanoukville): On August 2, 2019, heavy rain caused flooding in some places in Sihanoukville. Mr. Khouch Chamroeun, the Sihanoukville governor, and the city authorities tried to clean up the drains to make the water flow away, and sorted out the problem of a building that is built over a canal.

Guessing the higher floors in all the new tower blocks will be very popular places to live nowadays, as flooding becomes more much common
