Angkor Wat's Elephant Terraces Closed to Public, 5 December 2018
Heads up for anyone planning to visit the Angkor temples next week. There will be a big ceremony at the Elephant Terraces on 5 December which will be presided over by HM the King. Expect traffic jams and general disturbance.

Phnom Penh (FN), Cambodia’s Terrace of Elephant, part of Angkor Archeological Park, located in Siem Reap province, will be closed for one day at 12 p.m on 5 December 2018 for the 25th anniversary of establishment of International Coordination Committee for the Safeguarding and Development of Historic Site of Angkor (ICC-Angkor), according to Apsara Authority’s announcement dated on Friday.
The commemoration will be presided over by His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni.

The commemoration will be presided over by His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni.

Update: The Cambodian PM is also due to visit the Siem Reap exhibition on December 4. The Angkor-UNESCO 25th Anniversary exhibition opened on 28 November and will close on 12 December 2018.

ICC-Angkor expo coming up
The Apsara Authority, responsible for the research, protection and conservation of cultural heritage sites around Angkor have organized an exhibition of the International Coordinating Committee for the Safeguarding and Development of the Historic Site of Angkor (ICC-Angkor) to commemorate its 25 year anniversary.
The ICC-Angkor was established in 1993, one after Angkor was inscribed in UNESCO’s World Heritage List, and the commemorative expo aims to make the general public more aware of the ICC-Angkor’s existence, activities and achievements.
The exhibition will last 15 days, from Nov. 28 to Dec.12, 2018, in the garden of the Grand Angkor Hotel in Siem Reap; and according to Sum Map, director general of the Apsara Authority, will be visited by Prime Minister HE on Dec. 4, and by King Sihamoni on Dec. 5.

The International Coordinating Committee for the Safeguarding and Development of the Historic Site of Angkor (ICC-Angkor) kicked off its two-day plenary sessions in Siem Reap on Tuesday to mark the 25th anniversary of its formation and its 31st technical session.
Prime Minister HE, who attended the opening session, said preserving cultural heritage should not be mixed with politics.
The high-level commemoration was also attended by Unesco director-general Audrey Azoulay, who was visiting Cambodia for the first time, and diplomats from Japan and France. King Norodom Sihamoni was scheduled to close the session.
