General Queries

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

How much could a man see himself being able to purchase a 50kg bag of rice for from a small market if he were a shrewd businessman, and able to assure a regular purchase of the said amount? Guesstimations and estimations are both welcomed! :color

If he was a shrew businessman he would be buying the land and growing his own rice, thereby cutting out the middle man.

i dont want to cut out the middle man, i would like to pay him for his rice :stir: So is it safe to accept that $1 a kg is a solid price for rice?

50kg bags of rice are $25-30. No shrewdness, wiley negotiation skills, nor repeat business required. Funnily enough, rice sellers sell shit loads of rice.

But that is only because Cambodians eat shit loads of rice.
There is a big difference in price between 60% broken rice, 20% broken rice and first grade fragrance rice. While us white guys are experts at telling the difference
between difference beers, I think you have to be Asian to tell the slight difference in rice flavors and quality.
