Tropical Storm Usagi Brings Heavy Rain to Cambodia
27/11/18 04:30
Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 26 – The Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology on Monday announced that the tropical storm Usagi is currently slamming the Cambodian-Vietnamese border, unloading heavy rainfall to Svay Vieng and Prey Veng provinces.

Usagi briefly strengthened into a typhoon on Saturday before weakening back into a tropical storm as it tracked westward across the South China Sea on Saturday night, according to AccuWeather’s report on Sunday.

Downpours will be most widespread across Cambodia, northeastern Thailand and southern Laos by Monday before diminishing to scattered showers and thunderstorms by Tuesday.

Chan Yutha, a spokesman for the Ministry of Water Resources, stated that Usagi typhoon is forecasted to arrive in Phnom Penh at 2:00 am on 27 November 2018 then continue to Kompong Speu and Koh Kong, Battambang, and Banteay Meanchey during 27-28 November 2018.

The heavy rain, though, blessed the thousands of hectares of farmland that experienced water shortages, according to Chan Yutha.

Ministry of Water Resources has called for fishermen and mariners to suspend their activities from 25 to 27 November to avoid possible accidents.
