Transport Ministry Plan to Turn Potholes Green with New App
Transport Ministry to address potholes via app
November 2, 2018
The Public Works and Transport Ministry on Wednesday announced that it will launch a mobile application for residents throughout the Kingdom to report road damage.
The announcement was made during the launch of a truck driving school on the same day by Transport Minister Sun Chanthol, who said that the ministry is now preparing “Road Care”, a mobile application that residents can utilise to report potholes by taking a picture and sending it to the ministry.
“People can install the app on their mobile phone and take a picture of the pothole and send it to the ministry,” Mr Chanthol said. “The new app is almost ready, we hope by next month, or the end of the year it will be finished and ready for launch.”
He added that the mobile application will have a feature to display reported potholes in red on a digital map.
The ministry will then come and inspect the reported pothole and mark it yellow, Mr Chanthol said.
He said that once repair has been conducted, the mark will turn green.

Even by KOW standards, this is a brilliant plan. I have one or two (thousand) potholes to report right now. I can't wait till they all change colour.

It seems like a good idea. They set up some mobile minor repair squad with tuk tuks a couple of years ago but I've never noticed any in action. I wonder if they can repair dodgy drains on the streets, those are a menace and you get them on otherwise well surfaced streets.
Silence, exile, and cunning.

Road Care app leads to surge in repairs
The Ministry of Public Works and Transportation yesterday said 310 potholes were repaired after residents reported them using its new app.
In December 2018, the ministry launched the Road Care application in order to encourage citizens to report damaged roads.
Since the Road Care app was launched, it has been downloaded 17,122 times, leading to the repairs of potholes caused by floods and overloaded vehicles.
According to a ministry report issued yesterday, 310 potholes out of 2,503 reported through the app have been repaired. The report noted that the remaining potholes will be fixed over the next year.

Does this count as one pothole, or do you include the whole of Sihanoukville as a pothole.

They should ask some countries for a few, of these. (they should buy them, but knowing the Cambodian government, that won't happen. )

They do not repair the substrate so a couple of weeks after the holes are fixed they break again. Roads were never designed for the constant use of cement trucks and huge, overweight truck delivering steel and bricks
