Achtung! Censorship! Ban the evil doers

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

even then, still "hackable". automated ban systems are a terrible idea because of this. how hard is it to make some throw away email sockpuppets and rape a site with something like that? not hard at all.

I think these are all novel ideas, but letting members ban other members seems like a nightmare. As much as a few complain about unjust negative karma, I can only imagine what they'd think about stuff that could essentially get them banned.

Bottom line is we listen to our fellow members. If you see a member or a post you don't like, don't be shy to let us know. We use that feedback.

Also, I like how karma follows you around. A rating system should follow you around. How people feel about a single post of yours should follow you around, otherwise, what's the point? Might as well just tell them on that single thread what you think about their post.

If I know that what I say on this thread will follow me around, good or bad, I'm not likely to not want to troll on here.

Also, as several have aired their dislike for a few trollish members lately, have you given any negative karma?

(And some people HAVE taken the time to tell us what they thought of those certain posters, and we have acted accordingly. Thx to you guys!)

How difficult is it for you to verify that posters are genuine before granting them privileges? We have monthly meet ups to go to restaurants and there was that comedy night that Gmac blagged free entrance for all ceo members.

So those who wish to post anonymously are free to do so. Those that put a real name to their screen name get perks.

Maybe you should have at least 1 mod living in Cambodia and involved in the 'real world' side of the forum?

Not a sock puppet or troll.
I'm not asking you to marry these people, just vet them before granting them privileges, which can be removed if they are abused.
