...Another Gofundme campaign

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

...Another Gofundme campaign

Post by PSD-Kiwi »

Seems to be getting more and more common, GoFundMe type campaigns, and dead-beat parents.
DESPERATE BRIT RESCUES TODDLER DAUGHTERS IN CAMBODIA AND NEEDS AID....

I have been in and out of Cambodia helping children that are street beggars for a while now (around a year) providing children with clothes and food, shoes and toys when they don’t have, there is an article in the Lancashire evening post, and numerous videos on my profile of my charitable Activaties, for verification,
I usually save my own funds and use these but coming across such an unusual situation I need more help for these children.

So at my place last night (a hostel in kampot, Cambodia) a British man mark 34 from England, turned up on a scooter with 2 young girls. Age 2 and 4. Named jasmine and luchi, the female Cambodian mother has abandoned the children as is regular here. And Luckily (very lucky) mark has located the children and is asking for help.

with not much money considering the time it takes to translate documents and the daily upkeep of the children with, food, clothes, water, toys, entertainment and accommodation. I don’t mean entertainment asin shows and rides I mean something to distract them from the fact the only accommodation they can afford is in a building site, and mark is trying to get the children back to England ASAP.

he has all the kids paper work, consent of the mother and the children with him, he has photos from birth, the children are comfortable in his company and recognise him on photos. He desperately needs help and support this is unlike any situation I have come across so far. With help these children could b free of the Cambodian lifestyle and I beg for u to help.

I have currently agreed to pay there accommodation for a week but I can not afford this ongoing and these children really need some stability whilst arranging there undetermined future.

please donate anything u can the father is also asking for free legal advise in areas specialising in immigration, asylum seeking and anything u think could relate or assist in him bringing his daughters home.

dont forget he is on a restricted visa and can not over stay he desperately wants to stay with and return his children home,
please help me help him give his kids what all our children receive no questions. Let’s watch these beautiful children grown into beautiful adults, educated and able to achieve anything... inbox or contact for more info, proof, details, photos anything at all
thanks for reading please share an donate what u can xxx

Sounds like the father was actually living in the UK and the mother and children were left in Cambodia, father never bothered to get the kids their UK citizenship and passports.

I don’t understand — are they UK citizens or Khmer/UK and don’t have UK Citizenship?

What the hell is going on there? What a weird and disturbing story.
I don’t mean entertainment asin shows and rides I mean something to distract them from the fact the only accommodation they can afford is in a building site
It doesn't seem like their father is all too competent. It sounds like a case that a local NGO like PSE or Save the Children might take on. And he can forget about getting his daughters anywhere in a hurry unless they already have UK passports.
Silence, exile, and cunning.

What I can gather;

- Father lives in UK, never bothered to get his kids UK citizenship & passports. Can't tell if father & mother were in a relationship.
- Mother dumped the kids on the side of the road (really...sounds a bit drastic!)
- Someone informed father, he flew over to Cambodia
- Father wants to take kids back to UK but can't afford to
- White savior chick sets up GoFundMe. Starts the campaign off by telling everyone how awesome she is ("I have been in and out of Cambodia helping children that are street beggars for a while now (around a year) providing children with clothes and food, shoes and toys when they don’t have, there is an article in the Lancashire evening post, and numerous videos on my profile of my charitable Activaties, for verification, I usually save my own funds and use these but coming across such an unusual situation I need more help for these children.")

The girl who set up the go fund me seems like one of these wannabe Instagram model, attention seeking saviour types, she's even posted a photo of herself stuffing money into the pocket of a Khmer guy who is asleep on a park bench

I think whoever wrote the GoFundMe plea should have mentioned the word father before paragraph 6.

If you knock up an impoverished Cambodian woman, twice, then leave your family in poverty and fuck off back to the UK, then decide to finally take responsibility for your own kids, is this really a “rescue”?

I only saw the well-meaning woman's page just now. While she may have these poor children's plights tugging at her heart she doesn't seem to have figured that no good father abandons his children and lets them get into circumstances like that in the first place.

There are 100,000,000 children in the world that need my help. The father is a cunt. Piss off.
You could be next.
