Legendary American Expat HURLEY SCROGGINS Dies at Age 57 (Owned Cantina in Phnom Penh, Cambodia)
Phnom Penh, Cambodia News: A well-known American expat, Hurley Scroggings, who used to own Cantina on the Riverside reportedly passed away in the US recently, at the age of 57.
Hurley was a journalist by trade and arrived in Cambodia back in 1993. He became a UN Peacekeeper, and later started writing for the Phnom Penh Post.
He later opened up his very popular Mexican restaurant around 2005, which is likely where many others know him from.
He also opened up a second Cantina restaurant on Otres Beach in Sihanoukville, which burned down in 2009, and in 2015 he closed down the original Cantina in Phnom Penh, citing high rental fees. Hurley said he was 'hearbroken' when he closed Cantina.
May Hurley Scroggings rest in peace and condolences to all his friends and family.
And here are some good pictures to remember him by, including some with Al Rockoff and Anthony Bourdain.

Sad news. I remember meeting him a few times while eating at Cantina with friends. One of us complained about something, I forget what it was, maybe the beans or rice, and Hurley was like, "sorry about that. Would free tequila shots make up for it?" Hell yes they will.
RIP

I met Rockoff at the Cantina and asked him if it was true that people called him Al Fuckoff. RIP
