Correction: It seems that the two poultry slaughterhouses were not closed down by the authorities, but have been told to clean up their act.

Fowl slaughterhouses risk closure
Authorities in Phnom Penh’s Meanchey district yesterday inspected two chicken slaughterhouses in Boeng Tompon I commune following complaints over a foul smell emitting from waste discarded improperly.
“After receiving the new complaints, officials who visited both places found that residents are right about the smell,” Mr Roth Khemarun noted. “They also found that both slaughterhouses are operating in unhygienic conditions.”
He said that the owners were given the option of either keeping their premises clean or moving to another location where people’s lives will not be disrupted.
Seang Borin, director of the Phnom Penh agriculture department, said the owners were told to slaughter the chickens in a sanitary way and to store the meat properly.
“We do not want to shut their business because this will disrupt the meat supply in the city,” he noted. “So we have ordered them to carry out their business in a clean and sanitary way and dispose of the waste properly.”
