Murray's Place Serviced Apartments in Phnom Penh
OK, have not got the go ahead from the El Supremo regarding whether or not this is an acceptable company to talk about but having just noticed they advertise I guess it's OK.
Has anyone had experience with these guys? When you go to check availability on the web site, nothing is available...all blanked out.
Are they that popular or is it just a snafu in the website software? What are the apartments like? A full SP from first hand experience would be much appreciated prior to a visit in the new year.

Re: Murrays Place
I'd just call them. Not sure how updated they keep the site.
They're furnished apartments with a nice rooftop area, and squash up there too, if you play that.
Off MTT Blvd, if you know where that is.

I've dealt with Murray, and although I had to cancel my booking, I found him to be quite accommodating. He even offered to come get me on his bike from the airport. I emailed him.

Lived there for a couple of months. Murray is truly a great guy, but will probably be the first to tell you he's not the greatest landlord.
We booked before relocating from Australia and specifically requested his room with a bathtub (as a way of easing Mrs Stroppy into living here) and had it confirmed multiple times that the room had a functioning bath. It was just a shame that the bath had no bottom to it, and we got the sheepish "gotcha" shrug and smile about it on arrival with the comment, "I hope no-one's wanting to take a bath!" Also, the wifi at the time was not functional although there was some small effort to rectify - may be fixed by now.
I would go for a trial short-term stay before committing to anything longer.
The greatest hardship of living at Murray's was that we moved in as Gonk moved out, so the IP addresses were blocked on just about the whole darned internet. Thanks Gonk.

Thanks for the replies guys.
Guess it's a hotel first then a visit. Eventually we aim to stay in the Battambang area away from the maddening crowd but first will centralise in PP while finding our way around.
It almost sounds that Murray's pictures and reality are two different things.

FTFY. Not to make fun, but to point out that there is quite often a big difference in Cambodia as depicted online and IRL. In just a few months, places can totally change. We once came back to our favorite PP hotel after 3 months away to find it had been totally demolished - and we were wondering why they didn't answer the emails, lol. Not to say this is the case with Murray's, but you get the drift.TOG wrote: βThu Sep 20, 2018 12:37 am Thanks for the replies guys.

Never done it myself, but some of the airbnb places look quite presentable.

I stayed about one week at Murray's 4 or 5 years ago. Basic accommodation , I remember it was roomy. It was a bit far from downtown but the price wasn't bad. More suitable as a transit place than long term.

What's Murray's policy on maid fucking?

If the maids are anything like that good time gal who stiffed the Aussie, you can forget it.
Necrophilia is preferable to that.
