Decathalon in Aeon Mall 2

Post by newkidontheblock »

Just wanted to give a thumbs up to the Decathalon sporting goods store in the Aeon 2 Mall. Large parts of the store are dedicated to a try it option, not just all product shelf space. They had tents that can be climbed into, inflatable kayaks to try out, a mini pool table to play on, several table tennis setups, basketball hoops for pick up games, suction cup archery, scooters, skateboards, speed bag, heavy bags, treadmill, ellipticals, treadmills and more.

Company is a French company with brands I’ve never heard of. Prices are cheaper than in the west but more expensive that the local markets. Staff was excellent.

It reminded me how things used to be in the west about 20 years ago or longer. Before thievery was common, products need to be in theft proof plastic, and floor models needed to be chained to the ground. Before product liability suits fenced off all products with do not touch signs. And people in the store were actually helpful and caring.

It’s a big kid and adult playground. Definitely would go there again.

Used by quite a few ultra runners in Vietnam so can't be too bad.

Haha yes Decathlon is a french brand. I was so surprise to see it in this mall. Even in Cambodia... It's very popular here in France, you have plenty of them everywhere. You can buy stuff for every king of sport : soccer, basket, cycling, horse, running, fishing, etc... They have popular brand like Nike, Adidas, etc... but they also manufacture for their own brand. And their products have reputation tu be technical and cheap. I buyed their stuff and it's quite good, clearly very good value for the price.

"The group also take profit of globalization and low-cost labor: 65% of production comes from Asia, 25% from Europe, the rest from North Africa".
But I read that in Asia it's mostly chinese factory. So I'm, not sure about Cambodia.
