Re: Do You Use Wing ?
Go to the WING shop, they have these paper slips on the counter. You write your telephone number, the amount and the recipient's number on the 3 lines. Then the WING shop person will type it into a terminal and a ticket comes out, there's an 11 (?) digit code. You SMS the code and amount to the person you are sending the money to, they go to their local WING shop with that code (and maybe the phone they got the text on?) and get the money! You have to pay a few thousand Riel but not much and I think it's free if you have an account with them.Jamie_Lambo wrote: ↑Wed Aug 22, 2018 11:20 pm never used it, have a rough idea of how it works but not enough to actually use it, someone enlighten me?

1. Go to Wing shop
2. Fill out the paper slip
3. Give the money to the Wing person?
4. Receive the Ticket with code number on
5. SMS the code number to whoever youre sending the money to

Re: Do You Use Wing ?
Think Western Union or Moneygram for the average Khmer. Not as efficient as true electronic money transfer (direct from bank to recipient) and will also have substantial fees due to the infrastructure involved. Always will need someone to hold a cash deposit, and another to pay out cash.

Interview with Wing CEO, Jojo Malolos:
How Wing introduced financial services to Cambodia’s “unbanked”
3 October 2018
Wing introduced a network of money transfer agents across the country, paving the way for a rapid expansion. As of October, Wing boasts more than 5,000 agents with whom customers can get their money converted electronically that allows recipients to withdraw at any verified Wing agent.
Wing currently processes between 60-70 million transactions a year, worth more than USD10 billion, most of which comes from the “unbanked”, according to Malolos
An estimated 3 million customers, including 1 million account holders, now regularly use Wing’s network, a figure that is expected to increase as the company introduced a raft of new services.
An ordinary farmer, for instance, who previously was unable to afford the tillage of his soil can now receive a loan from which he can immediately cash out the borrowed amount at any agent, thus reducing any unnecessary extra expense.
Another advantage of using Wing’s services, cites Malolos, is the time-efficient and convenient payroll system for company employees. Garment workers can easily receive their salary through their Wing wallet and immediately pay their bills or send remittances to family members elsewhere in the country.

Behind the Idea: Wing
by Gina ClarkeJuly 23, 2020
Wing (Cambodia) Limited Specialised Bank is Cambodia’s leading mobile banking services provider and one of the few specialized banks in the world. Established in 2009, Wing has transformed the way Cambodians send and receive money, using mobile phones for anytime-anywhere convenience.
Wing remains at the forefront of the mobile money and electronic payment services market in Cambodia with 100% district coverage through its nationwide network of close to 8,000 Wing Cash Xpress outlets. It has partnerships with over 40,000 merchants, including both local vendors and global industry leaders such as Mastercard, MoneyGram, AliPay, WeChat Pay and Western Union.
Wing also provides funding and payment solutions to the corporate sector via our enterprise services. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and larger companies can use Wing’s payroll and disbursement services for employees, helping to encourage the growth and spread of our payment ecosystem.
Manu Rajan is the CEO of Wing, in this episode of Behind the Idea, Rajan explains how Wing has transformed fintech in Cambodia.
What has been the traditional company response in Cambodia to financial technology innovations?
As one of the leading mobile banking service providers, it’s imperative that we continuously bring in the newest digital payment solution for our customers. Hence, innovation has been in Wing’s DNA for all of these past 12 years. We’re attuned to the needs of our customers, so we develop each of our products and services with the main focus on building solutions to the challenges they face day-in, day-out.
How has this changed over the past few years?
Though Fintech is relatively new in Cambodia, more corporate and individual customers have already experienced the advantage of digital payment solutions through their business operations and in their daily lives. There’s a taste now for convenient, secure and real-time service.
This can be seen through our growing number of corporate and individual customers. We now have close to 10 million annual users in a country with 16 million population.
Over the past decade, before the launch of Wing in Cambodia, fund transfer was carried out mainly through informal channels, leading to a risk of loss or delay. Wing has redefined the way Cambodians send and receive money with the help of the ‘human ATM’ services of our hard-working Wing Cash Xpress agents and the top-notch technology of the Wing financial ecosystem, powered by the Wing Money App. This unified system enables safe, real-time transfers for both local and international remittances.

Re: Do You Use Wing ?
I use Wing multiple times each month.
There is an excellent interface between the Pisey Tem Money Transfer service from Cabramatta in western Sydney, Australia and the circa now 8,000 Wing outlets throughout Cambodia for the vast majority of Cambodians who do not have bank accounts and probably never will in their or our life times.
And for the Khmer Diaspora around the world Wing lets then assist less fortunate relatives and loved ones back in Cambodia.
Even in Cambodia as a non-Cambodian I use Wing. It is so simple to use and so cheap to use.
