I read the article a little differently:IraHayes wrote: ↑Mon Aug 20, 2018 11:36 amOr maybe they have a super healthy lifestyle with extremely low rates of coronary heart disease.John Bingham wrote: ↑Mon Aug 20, 2018 10:49 amSure, and these isolated tribes are often malnourished and die young.
along with wild game and fish, not smoking and being active throughout the day could help prevent hardening in the arteries of the heart.

Why? Meat eater (like me) complain that vegans are too evangelistic and bore us with their anti meat rhetoric. This guy is just doing what we complain about vegans doing.PSD-Kiwi wrote:Well done that man!
He’s just being antagonistic - live and let live I say.

Yes and not smoking and being active are all part off any healthy lifestylehanno wrote: ↑Mon Aug 20, 2018 12:19 pmI read the article a little differently:IraHayes wrote: ↑Mon Aug 20, 2018 11:36 amOr maybe they have a super healthy lifestyle with extremely low rates of coronary heart disease.John Bingham wrote: ↑Mon Aug 20, 2018 10:49 amSure, and these isolated tribes are often malnourished and die young.along with wild game and fish, not smoking and being active throughout the day could help prevent hardening in the arteries of the heart.

The difference is that they care. If someone ate a carrot outside a meat convention I swear to God not one person would find that interesting to talk about or livestream on YouTube. "MAN PROVOCATIVELY EATS VEGETABLE IN FRONT OF LUNATIC MEAT EATERS", I don't think such a headline can even exist in this universe.khmerhamster wrote: ↑Mon Aug 20, 2018 12:48 pm This guy is just doing what we complain about vegans doing.
Meat eaters are fine with whatever other people choose to eat. They eat meat and generally don't mind if someone does or doesn't. Vegans on the other hand are not satisfied with making a diet choice for themselves - for them its a diet choice for everybody.

And that is why it is wrong to imply that they are healthier because they do not eat meat (which they actually do anyway).IraHayes wrote: ↑Mon Aug 20, 2018 12:55 pmYes and not smoking and being active are all part off any healthy lifestylehanno wrote: ↑Mon Aug 20, 2018 12:19 pmI read the article a little differently:IraHayes wrote: ↑Mon Aug 20, 2018 11:36 amOr maybe they have a super healthy lifestyle with extremely low rates of coronary heart disease.John Bingham wrote: ↑Mon Aug 20, 2018 10:49 amSure, and these isolated tribes are often malnourished and die young.along with wild game and fish, not smoking and being active throughout the day could help prevent hardening in the arteries of the heart.

I agree. I think the key points from the article are that a low fat, balanced diet rich in fruit and vegetables coupled with an active lifestyle are what lead to their very good cardiovascular health. Mind you they also found elevated levels of inflammation markers but they go on to say this is probably due to increased rates of infection.hanno wrote: ↑Mon Aug 20, 2018 1:37 pmAnd that is why it is wrong to imply that they are healthier because they do not eat meat (which they actually do anyway).IraHayes wrote: ↑Mon Aug 20, 2018 12:55 pmYes and not smoking and being active are all part off any healthy lifestylehanno wrote: ↑Mon Aug 20, 2018 12:19 pmI read the article a little differently:IraHayes wrote: ↑Mon Aug 20, 2018 11:36 amOr maybe they have a super healthy lifestyle with extremely low rates of coronary heart disease.John Bingham wrote: ↑Mon Aug 20, 2018 10:49 am

I don't have a problem with a vegan diet; it's the religiosity of their attitudes that I find offensive. It's reminiscent of the true believers zeal. We meat eater's are lost, but THEY have been found. Praise the Lord and pass the potatoes that haven't been sullied with butter or gravy please.
As my old Cajun bait seller used to say, "I opes you luck.

Many of the vegans I've met do not come across as sincere. Just another fad, like gluten-intolerance which only really affects 1% of people. Guess it's good for Twitter and conversation at the meat-free, milk-free, beer-free, fun-free vegan restaurant.
