Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. Yeah but that’s nothing compared to what happened to my aunt’s neighbor’s cousin’s daughter’s third or fourth best friend for ever.

Chinese held for stealing $25 from fish vendor
August 20, 2018
Sotr Nikum district police, in Siem Reap province on Saturday arrested two Chinese nationals who robbed a fish vendor of $25 after they gambled away all their money.

Major Sok Soeun, district deputy police chief, identified the suspects as Lou Bin, 44, and Lou Kongjing, 51, both habitual casino gamblers.

He said that at about 7.30am on Saturday, the two visited a market in the district’s Dam Dek commune and stopped by fish vendor Yim Chantha’s stall. Maj Soeun said that the two pretended that they wanted to buy fish from Ms Chanta, 56.

“While Lou Kongjing was discussing the price of the fish with the victim, Lou Bin snatched the money from her bag and both fled,” he said. “They then rode off on their motorbike towards Siem Reap city.”

“Ms Chanta alerted policemen at the market who gave chase on a motorbike and arrested the two after about an hour later,” he added. Maj Soeun said that police seized the motorbike and returned the stolen money to Ms Chanta.

Really? Did a full tactical team swoop in on attack helicopters to rob them? Held them at bay with cattle prods and had them mind wiped on the way out?
