Walking ATM Beaten & Robbed after Walking away from ATM

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Here is some video footage from this very strange scene. The guy helping the victim tells the reporters off, and the victim appears to be in a lot worse shape than I had originally thought:

"Life is too important to take seriously."

"Life does not cease to be funny when people die any more than it ceases to be serious when people laugh."

 Good on the French dude for helping. I got a bit emotional watching that. Drunk or not, the victim sought refuge in that man.

Khmer people in general are amazing people. But their obsession with gore and suffering is fcked up.

I'm not scared of death. I'm scared of dying live on Facebook

He didn't 'just leave'. He was ushered back. I genuinely think he felt stepping away may speed up the process of the guy getting to hospital. But then ambulance leaves. He must have realised they wanted money ??May I never need an ambulance here.

Good on that French guy for helping. Yes, it's pretty awful video, but it's a real eye-opener on Khmer reporting. Brings to mind the in-depth interviews of attempted suicide victims on the bridge. :(
Hope the victim is ok. Brutal beating.

"May I never need an ambulance here."

May you also never need the medical care at Calmette. Their "foreigner" prices will look like grand theft robbery compared to the ATM mugging.
As my old Cajun bait seller used to say, "I opes you luck.

I think my insurance means I'm supposed to go to royal pp. For all the good insurance is when I've been given nothing to show /people to find, and I'd need to be able to speak and hope my phone has not been stolen in order to contact HR to say HELP. High on my priority list is to pay exorbitant fees for my own insurance, that provides me a card, and the reputation of which says i need not worry..

And for all the good that will do if I'm ever in an ambulance in PP traffic.

May i never need emergency transportation or treatment
