The future of Cambodia looks increasingly Chinese

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Damn, and here was everyone hoping it would be an American clone, because that worked out so well, apart from the carpet-bombing, supporting the Khmer Rouge, the Lon Nol loan and the small matter of 2.5 million dead. Kissinger needs to be involved again, right?

I wonder if it's time we all learned some Chinese phrases...

"Hey, there's a line."
"Please wait your turn, I was already being served."
"At least aim somewhere when you spit, and not on my feet, good woman."
"Your friend is standing right next to you and it's quiet - you probably don't both need to be shouting as loudly as you can."
"Now, the general aim is to keep the SUV on the road, preferably on the correct side, without hitting anything else."
"Oh, sorry I didn't stop when you deliberately stepped in front of me. Do you need a hand back up?"

Given that the "Big Man" lives most of each year in his large villa outside Beijing, this is no surprise at all.

How do I say this in Chinese?
"Fuck off back to your own country"

狗屁 (gŏu pì) - literally 'dog fart' and is the equivalent of 'bullshit'.

猪头 (zhū tóu) - try calling the dominant male in the group 'pig head', should always go well.

狗崽子 - (gǒu zǎizi) - literally 'little puppy' but equates to 'son of a bitch'.

白痴 - (báichī) - idiot.
