Pseudo Names on CEO
Pseudo Names on CEO
I know there are many reasons why some folk here chose to initially join using a pseudo name and nothing wrong with that.
I am wondering why some people used there K440 names and others chose a different one. Also, now the dust has settled are some happy to be identified with both, so we can benefit from their previous posts and the opinions they gave.
Further still, would some like Stroppy Chops to baptise them back to there original screen name (no religious insult intended)
Or does it all just not matter?
Your thoughts ?

Re: Pseudo Names on CEO
Re PR's post, not quite applicable as OP is asking more about why hide your 440 nick (it seems to me). I've wondered that too but I chalk it up to they're kinda ashamed about what dickheads they could be on the other forum and they're tryin out a new format. Clean slate n all that stuff. For me, I just din't like my old nick as I'd joined using that one never thinking I'd get kinda stuck with it. But Mr Natural stuck. Good to see Cambod is halfway back

Re: Pseudo Names on CEO
kinda crazy to have 2 user names (ok, i have 2 but everyone knows them both sooo)
as so many post the exact same post on both threads.
you are who you are even if you try and be someone else, the old you will always come thru

Re: Pseudo Names on CEO
To answer the OP, and those other threads, I used a pseudonym on K440 initially because I was getting on a forum full of people who've decided to become expats in Cambodia for various reasons... reasons that could be nefarious as well as novel. I don't necessarily want to walk blindly into something like that broadcasting my information around.
It was also the name of the blog I was attempting to start (but have sort of let fizzle, being too busy to really keep it up) and wanted to push a little promotion of the name out of it.
It was/is also my favorite shirt (which many have seen) and sort of a running gag with my long time friends.
When starting this site, Cambod (yeah... I said it...) and I were on different sides of the issue of keeping our 440 names to some degree. He wanted to start with a fresh name, but somewhat reminiscent of his second name over there, while I felt as a fledgling site we should use what we're known by to the audience we wanted to address. So we did both. I still like the name, it's even what some of the expats call me offline when I see them out, and so I'll just run with it. I'm far from anonymous, even replying to most admin emails here from my personal gmail account and sometimes linking to my facebook (though I've locked that shit down during the job hunt process). I'm not hiding behind a screen name now so much as just acknowledging it as a sort of nickname.

Re: Pseudo Names on CEO
I've always used pseudo names (usually stupid ones) at first because my full name is ridiculously stupid to pronounce/read, even for Japanese believe it or not. My name has been the bane of my existence and a caused a great deal of confusion for both Japanese and English speakers, so I always wanted a change. After pondering for years and years of what to change my name to so I could be identified under one easy to pronounce name that would be "me", I realized that names are just names and that I didn't really care after that. I assigned a "model number" to myself for online stuffs (on Japanese forums as well) and it's stuck ever since. I like the model number idea, two letters, two numbers and universal when it comes to being read.

Pokerbot - Banned for asking Lady Lucan if he would repeat something to my face. He declined. Said he didn't have to prove himself!!! KiR, Scobz, AiA, jumped in after I was banned, and couldn't answer back. Lady Lucan then started a hypocritical thread about keyboard warriors , where he talked about how tough he was, and how he could fight lol!!!! I guess he realised he had been outed as a dickless, belligerent drunk . It was then deleted, as it was going against him, as people mocked him. Usual k440 stuff, when you humiliate the clique.EdinWigan wrote: I am wondering why some people used there K440 names and others chose a different one. So why a new name? I am from the UK, and my name begins with J. I guess I didn't want to be smeared with AiA's claim of a racist fascist troll, or whatever it was the racist, anti nigerian said. I think he was pissed at being humiliated over his fawning of Russell Brand, like he was the new messiah.
