Probably not and I don't carry too much cash around either but if you are planning on a night out and having a feed then there is every chance $20 may not cut it.
Girls like to have a nice drink , cocktail perhaps, and a dish a bit more than they would normally have so be prepared . I got caught short one night and borrowed some cash off the girl to settle the bill but gave it back straight away when we got home.

We all fuck up at times and she may have been a bit ancy but if she likes you enough she will get over it. Shout her a pair of shoes and you will be in her good books again.

Already the 3rd post here today about 1, 3 and now 5 dollar. When my (Khmer) partner invites friends to eat/drink with me, they always pay for everything, even my tab. So no, it's not usual to have to pay for everyone your partner knows or invites. When I invite them, I know I am the one that pays.
