Surely granadilla and passion fruit are one and the same?

Bloody missionaries at it again...Stroppy, interesting etymology

Granadilla is a specific type of passionfruit, that turns orange as it ripens.

Well, I've eaten thousands in Africa and S. America and they were all purple. And called granadillas.

Haha, getting there.
Grenadilla is what they call passion fruit in Spanish in some parts of the world, and it is sometimes called Grenadille in French.

However, just to confuse things further, there is also a species of yellow passion fruit.
There is a type of passiflora from unknown origins , called yellow grenadille (Passiflora edulis f. flavicarpa), which is distinguished from the purple species of fruit by its habitat and flowering periods. The yellow fruit is large, autosterile, and yellow on maturity, whereas the purple fruit is autofertile, smaller, and purple.

Growing up our neighbours had a banana passionfruit tree. Never seen them anywhere else. They are lovely.
