Alcohol Prohibition for 2 Days During Elections
Phnom Penh: On July 21, 2018, the Ministry of Tourism has announced that all business owners of restaurants, KTVs, discos, beer gardens, or other tourism services in Cambodia need to stop selling alcohol for 2 days on July 28 and 29, 2018, for the election of the 6th National Assembly.
The Ministry of Tourism has instructed all business owners to follow the directive efficiently and responsibly to make sure that the election process of the 6th National Assembly deputies July 29, 2018, will take place in a peaceful fashion.
This guidance is based on the law, regulations, and procedures of the 6th Legislature of National Assembly Elections, which are free and fair, and to avoid any sort of violence, threats, or intimidation, that may be caused by drinking alcohol.

So the ex-pats who love a beer, and can't vote and now can't drink which supports the local economy. Good move big man.

My crystal ball forecasts that sales of cartons of beer will triple in the days leading up to the election.
