That’s part of the reason why land has gone up outside of SHV area and Kampot.
Locals think that the same will happen in Kampot with regards to intense increase of land prices as happened in SHV.

We plan to build a forever house to live on that land. Not interested in living in Kampot.

If the bride bolts or refuses the marriage, the girl’s family has to return the bride wealth. BUT it only applies to Khmer marrying Khmer. Apparently it is perfectly acceptable for the girl to bolt on a foreigner and the family keeps it all.
