It's official.

Koh Kong to Host 7th Sea Festival 2018
14/08/18 14:45
Koh Kong (FN), August 14 - Following the successful sixth Sea Festival in Kep, the Royal Government of Cambodia set Koh Kong as the next province to host the 7th Sea Festival 2018 from 14-16 December.

Ministry of Tourism and Koh Kong Administration met on Tuesday at Koh Kong Provincial Hall to discuss the preparations, presided over by Minister of Tourism Thong Khon and Koh Kong Governor Mithona Puthorng.

Thong Khon, Minister of Tourism, set six strategies to better host the 7th annual Sea Festival, including (1) train and strengthen the quality of tourism services; (2) boost infrastructure as well as accommodation facilities; (3) guide local people to have well-decorated home and be ready to provide additional accommodations; (4) facilitate travel and accommodation of Thai and Cambodian people on the Thai-Cambodian border to enhance good relations and cooperation between the two people; (5) cooperate with Ministry of Commerce to organize special exhibitions of local products as well as quality art performances and a variety of sport activities; and (6) establish an inter-ministerial working group to coordinate and organize the Sea Festival and collaborate with the Provincial Working Group.

As the number of tourist increased, he hoped that the three-day Sea Festival will attract approximately 300,000 national and international tourists.

The minister stressed that in the 2018 Sea Festival in Koh Kong, Cambodian side will coordinate with the Thai side to facilitate border crossing for the two people.

Cambodian Prime Minister HE and his wife will preside over the 7th Sea Festival in Koh Kong.

Cambodian Sea festival is a celebration of Cambodia’s coastline, as Prime Minister HE says, “Cambodia has been recognized as having the most beautiful bays in the world.”

Koh Kong Sea Festival 2018 Started Today !

Sport set to feature at Koh Kong Sea Festival
14 December 2018
Sport will take centrestage at the 7th Sea Festival when it gets underway today with the provincial administration expecting at least 300,000 national and international visitors to descend on Koh Kong province.

The three-day event is this year presented under the slogans ‘Beautiful Bay, Happy Citizen’ and ‘Ecotourism for sustainable green growth and sustainable development’.

The festival will get an official opening from Prime Minister HE and in an effort to attract more tourists to Cambodia’s coastline, the kingdom’s leading sporting governing body has introduced a revised schedule of events.

The National Olympic Committee of Cambodia (NOCC) earlier said it would this year feature only seven disciplines at the festival. Compared to last year’s competition in Kep, the number is a marked decrease.

Among the sports which will make a presence include running, cycling, wrestling, triathlon, jet-ski, beach volleyball, and Kun Khmer.

The Watercraft Federation of Cambodia announced it would collaborate with authorities to host an international friendly Jet Ski competition at the festival. The event is expected to see the participation of Cambodia’s Jakarta Asian Games gold medallist Ou Moeut Saly.

Nos Sles, President of the Federation, explained the competition would play a crucial role in promoting the niche sport, as well as attracting more tourists to visit the country.

In addition to sports, attendees will also be also to see artistic performances, concerts and parades.

Why do Cambodian soldiers on parade where their hydration packs with the fluid pouches facing forward?

Afraid bag snatchers will steal them when they are on patrol?

Maybe to stop bullets, mine blasts, knife attacks?

Just curious.
