Post by CEOCambodiaNews »

Battambang: On June 20, a Battambang court has followed the order to destroy a bat farm at a house located at no.331, Sangkat Svay Por, Battambang, after the owner did not respect the contract.

I think they mean Swifts, specifically Edible Nest Swifts. Never heard of bats being farmed.

I think you are correct. Don't think bats react well to being kept in confined spaces with little room to move or fly never mind thrive enough to have a farm

Bats live in caves...they love it. One of the few animals who enjoy dark, confined spaces, attics, caves, growing banana leaves, etc.

True, but they are not farmed anywhere in the world.

Problem with the birds' nests farms is that the owners will blast out the birds' calls day and night to attract the birds. Worse than a Khmer wedding.

Sure, but they farm guano in many places. Could just be a translation problem.

I think for swifts/swiftlets you need a very specific environment, I recall reading about artificial ones they make in Thailand and Malaysia

It's probably swifts, as you said, hanno
