Pump question

Post by Heng Heng Heng »

I stopped to fill up my bike's gas tank up on Sunday. It was almost empty. When it was filled the guy pointed to the top row and said $5. I said no and pointed to the bottom row and said $4.75. To my thinking the top row has 3 decimal places which indicated litres and the bottom row had 2 decimal places that indicated dollars and cents. It's a 5 litre tank but it could have had about 250ml of gas. I gave in but I'm still not 100% sure.

The pixture shows 1lt of petrol dispensed, which costs $1.13.

ថ្លែ សរុប = total cost

The lower line says "cost of 1 litre", and shows 1.13, which is the current price of super at Total.

Interesting I read it wrong too! Why the 3 decimal spots for currency and not the liter..?

Thanks for the input. It could be that it was my first visit to a Total station and the ominous black pumps seemed sinister. I usually go to Caltex, Ptt or Soximex. I'll have to check to see if they display the 1/10 of a cent on the end of the price. I think that concept was dropped when most pumps went from mechanical to digital. I believe those stations also display $ or dollars and l or litres\liters. I also forgot that gas prices are not 0.89/l but now $1.01/l. :fool:

You could solve the problem by going back to the old system of buying your gas in the 1 l Pepsi bottle.

Did you know???
Some sellers of the petrol at those stands with soft drink bottles have a gimmick that makes them more money.
They pour in a epoxy resin and roll the bottle around to coat the inside. Leave it to harden then fill with petrol. Can save half a cup per litre bottle thus greater profit margin. =@ =@
