PO box mail missing
I have a po box at the main post office in PP. Bit disappointed lately with items seemingly going "missing".
Usually small packets from Aliexpress turn up (takes from 60 to 70 days though), but a recent one has not shown at 80 days, and also two birthday cards from NZ and AU never showed for my birthday a month ago. I wouldn't mind so much except one of them was from my father who has since died. I believe the light fingered crew favour cards because there is a greater possibility they might contain cash.
This is not the first time a card has failed to arrive, last year one my neighbour sent - containing a debit card and a replacement seal I needed for my coffee machine - also disappeared (although I was a bit annoyed at her for not registering that).
Has anyone else experienced missing po box mail? I thought it was supposed to be a lot more reliable than street addressed mail? I'll let them know at the counter but I'm not sure what good it will do.

I had one years ago but let it expire because it was useless. I'd get mail addressed to other people and I'm sure the same happened with them.

Mail posted in a post box (like a birthday card) is probably more than likely still sat inside a shipping container floating it's way over heretimmydownawell wrote: ↑Mon Jun 04, 2018 9:44 am also two birthday cards from NZ and AU never showed for my birthday a month ago

OK that doesn't bode well. I've just been away for 10 days so if any of the three items turned up during that time and were sitting in the box for several days, maybe one of the staffers thought they were theirs for the taking. Normally if I'm expecting mail I go every day as I live right nearby.StroppyChops wrote: ↑Mon Jun 04, 2018 8:27 pmSame, in the past year.timmydownawell wrote: ↑Mon Jun 04, 2018 9:44 am I have a po box at the main post office in PP. PO Box counter said "if it's not in the box, ask at Counters 31/32". Counter 31 said "if it came it would be in your box". Um, yeah, right.

My mother, bless her, still tries to send small money in untracked mail - although she does now try to hide it. Like, inside the half a box of sugar-free lollies for diabetics. It's half a box because the postage on the parcel fell into the next category, so let's just send half a box. Not only does the money not arrive, most of the lollies are gone too by the time we get it. Even tracked mail gets rifled these days. Only seems to be happening in the last year, before that, 100% success rate.timmydownawell wrote: ↑Mon Jun 04, 2018 8:40 pmOK that doesn't bode well. The other more-scammy thing that is happening at the post office in PP is being double-charged the annual fee. You get the renewal, you go and pay it, you check in again a few weeks later and there's another renewal. You go back and argue at the counter and are told "you didn't pay it, if you don't pay now you lose it" - at which point you pull out the receipt and ask the slightly-chubby lady if that's her signature and ask to speak to the supervisor. At this point she gets aggressive and tells you she made a simple mistake.

Re: PO box mail missing
My advice to my sister, now stands at "if you send me anything, print a label and make it look like a bill or business correspondence, or use an envelope from work". Maybe you should give that advice to your mum. That's sweet of her though, her nurturing instinct to look after little StroppyStroppyChops wrote: ↑Tue Jun 05, 2018 3:51 pmMy mother, bless her, still tries to send small money in untracked mail - although she does now try to hide it. Have not had the re-billing scam though. The slightly-chubby lady has always been nice to me.

Oh, she's lovely - until you refuse to fund her retirement, sick buffalo, etc. She gets fairly evil-eyed when you ask for the supervisor, and she knows she's caught out.
Edit, should point out that we fell for this one year because each of us had paid one of the bills without realising until later, and made a point of watching for it the following year. Sure enough...

Re: PO box mail missing
The last couple of times I've been called to go to the Post Office, I've been told to ask for someone in person instead of giving me a number. The guy comes out and hand delivers me the package, usually a T Shirt of something and doesn't charge me. Most strange.

That would be odd if you weren't expecting a t-shirt.Heng Heng Heng wrote: ↑Tue Jun 05, 2018 5:53 pm The last couple of times I've been called to go to the Post Office, I've been told to ask for someone in person instead of giving me a number.
