Big international news network wants to hear from expats about the 'changes' & Casinos in Sihanoukville
Hey all. A big news network has reached out to CEO and wants to talk to expats about the huge changes recently in Sihanoukville, and especially about all the Chinese casinos, etc. I will talk to them tomorrow, but there are probably quite a few of you that know a lot more about the crazy changes there recently, and I think it would be fun if you could talk to them about it. They have an account here [opns555] and I think they will be along to reach out to the community to see if there are any CEO members who would like to have a chat. They will tell you which network they are with, but I assume they don't want to get named until they publish their article. Afterwards we'll share it here, of course.
Anyways, you can communicate directly with them through their username opns555 and go from there if you want.

My next door neighbour is a government employee here in Shv and is having to send his wife and kids to Phnom Penh so he can live in the office at work. He can't afford the rents and they've just kicked us out of this $150pm apartment block as the Chinese have bought it. Now one room places like these are going for $200 - $250, when they used to be $80 - $100. Pretty sure this is going to be the case for most of the low level employees who don't have a sideline, where are they going to live?
EDIT my daughter just cam back from school today and said everyone in her class has gone, there was 15 now there are four. Seems like it was moving day. This is one of the more prominent ex-pat schools.

There's only a few westerners making money from the Chinese. So no doubt they will want to get in on the action with a chance for plugging their businesses and be the apologists for what destruction has happened while painting the town with a bright future as seen through rosy red glasses. Most who have left have done so because they have seen that it ain't gonna get any better any time soon!
