Big Fire In Boeung Tumpon - NOW

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Yes, a bit west of there.

I was able to continue posting jokes and political analysis, no need to fret.

Probably gas bottles exploding.
I am pretty sure I heard one of those booms all the way in TTP when a bottle went up. I thought it was a strange time for fireworks.

Seeing that fireman walking around with a flaccid hose was a sad sight. Somebody give that man a fire extinguisher FFS!

Damn. What news to wake up to. I assume it was contained?

Yeah, I don't think there were any casualties.

I ended up chasing a fire truck there and directing another.

The whole neighbourhood is a 1666 waiting to happen.

Very difficult for the firemen to access that area due to the small alleyways.

Thank god for the bucket brigade.

@that genius, yep this whole area is a maze of small lanes and alleys. I wonder if anyone will learn anything from this.

In our little enclave here, the police require each dwelling to have fire extinguishers. One for each floor.

They're serious too, they come around once a year and check. When we first moved in I thought I'd be proactive and buy them ahead of time. But when the police came by to check, I had gotten the wrong size, they require the bigger ones, so I ended up having to buy 3 more.

They're pretty big and thick, come up to about my knee in height.
