Clandestine Coffee Factory Raided in Phnom Penh
Phnom Penh: On April 27 at 9:30 am, the Authorities raided a factory which produced coffee with chemicals in Doung Village, Khan Prek Pnov, Phnom Penh.
Authorities which cooperated in mounting the raid on the clandestine coffee factory: Committee of Anti-counterfeit Products Department of Ministry of Interior, Lieutenant General Touch Yotthea, Deputy Secretariat, Lieutenant General Khan Lina, Deputy Chief of Secretariat, Colonel Chhin Kim Thuy, Prek Pnov District Chief, Clerk Chiv Sivutha, Kong Vuthy, representative of Cam-control, and Mr. Ngin Pich, deputy prosecutor of the Phnom Penh Municipal Court.
During the raid, police found more than seven tons of ingredients used to mix in with the coffee such as raw and roasted corn, roasted soybeans, butter, coconut milk, oil and other ingredients. It is illegal to add such products to original coffee. Camcontrol officials said they have taken samples of the coffee to be tested and are still waiting for results.
There was also some production equipment such as coffee roasters, three coffee mills, one packing machine, 150 kilograms of packing bags, a tank, and a vehicle for transporting coffee.
A 56 year old woman, Chao Khunthea, the factory owner and 26 year old woman, Seung Srey, a coffee roaster, were arrested by police and taken for questioning.
The raid on the coffee production facility took place because police were suspicious that the facility had no sign and only delivered to customers at night.

This is why I never buy packaged coffee here, it's full of padding and tastes like shit. Always buy roasted beans (and have them ground on the spot if you want).

At least you know it's proper coffee and it's allot cheaper then getting your coffee from the supermarket.timmydownawell wrote: ↑Tue May 01, 2018 11:10 am This is why I never buy packaged coffee here, it's full of padding and tastes like shit. I always get my coffee from a shop opposite Orrusey market.

They got coffee from Lao ($6-$7), Vietnam ($6-7), Cambodia ($6-7), Brazil ($13) and Italy ($18-20). They also have Civet Coffee ($20+) . Prices are per kilo. Don't quote me on it as I might be a little off.
Any other shops like this one that people would recommend?

Exactly. I get mine from Orussey as well, St 168 just by the corner of St 111. There are a few places around there though.Equinix wrote: ↑Tue May 01, 2018 4:50 pmAt least you know it's proper coffee and it's allot cheaper then getting your coffee from the supermarket.timmydownawell wrote: ↑Tue May 01, 2018 11:10 am This is why I never buy packaged coffee here, it's full of padding and tastes like shit.
