Is Tor Safe

Post by phuketrichard »

read on and judge for urself.

The Tor browser, the one you need to use to access the dark web, is not safe as secure as you might believe.

Problems have been plaguing the project for the last couple of years and it is becoming more and more clear that you CAN NOT only rely on Tor to keep your self anonymous on the dark web.
If you do then you only have your self to blame for being lazy and not taking some EASY steps to really strengthen your online privacy.

Let me give you some reasons why I say this:
The Tor Browser was first created and funded by the US Navy. Read Here. If you don't think the Navy would share the info with all the US departments, you are crazy.
There is a leaked memo from the NSA stating that they have compromised Tor.
Tor has had multiple vulnerabilities lately that have been compromised by law enforcement to de-anonymize individuals and track them down.
Multiple developers from the Tor project are being recruited (with large sums of money) by the FBI and NSA to crack Tor, and they are doing it successfully. Read here.
As you can see, you need extra layers of security because the people trying to find you are getting A LOT better at it.

What you need to do:
Use a good VPN (with no logs) with Tor.
Turn Off JavaScript on Tor Browser.
DO NOT resize the Tor Browser window ever.
Make sure Tor is up to date.
Familiarize yourself with these Tools, https://darkwebnews.com/category/anonymity-tools/

What you gain from doing these steps:

The VPN encrypt your internet connection giving your double protection. So even if Tor is compromised, your location will still be hidden and your identity safe. It will look like you are someone on the other side of the world to anyone trying to track you.
Turning off JavaScript will eliminate one of the easiest ways to identify you when Tor is compromised. JavaScript can run and ping your real location without you knowing.

It has been well documented that the FEDS can make a so called digital fingerprint of Tor users by using such details as your access times and among other things, your screen size. By not maximizing your browser , they can not figure out your screen size.

Of course you also need to always make sure that Tor is up to date. The team that are there always (we hope) have you best interests at heart, until they leave anyway.

Never used the dark web?
Dark Web or Dark Net is a subset of the Deep Web where there are sites that sell drugs, hacking software, counterfeit money and more.

wanna see what its all about?
If you are looking to access hidden marketplace’s or darknet websites (with a .onion domain) then dark web access is done using the TOR network with the TOR browser bundle.

this is a good start,,https://darkwebnews.com/help-advice/access-dark-web/

The Tor Project - a private nonprofit known as the "NSA-proof" gateway to the "dark web," turns out to be almost "100% funded by the US government" according to documents obtained by investigative journalist and author Yasha Levine.

By following the money, I discovered that Tor was not a grassroots. I was able to show that despite its indie radical cred and claims to help its users protect themselves from government surveillance online, Tor was almost 100% funded by three U.S. National Security agencies: the Navy, the State Department and the BBG. Following the money revealed that Tor was not a grassroots outfit, but a military contractor with its own government contractor number. In other words: it was a privatized extension of the very same government that it claimed to be fighting.

The documents conclusively showed that Tor is not independent at all. The organization did not have free reign to do whatever it wanted, but was kept on a very short leash and bound by contracts with strict contractual obligations. It was also required to file detailed monthly status reports that gave the U.S. government a clear picture of what Tor employees were developing, where they went and who they saw. -Yasha Levine
