Malaria to be eradicated in Cambodia ??

HE pushes for malaria-free Kingdom
The government has called on all relevant institutes and local authorities, as well as international development partners, to help make Cambodia a malaria-free country.
Prime Minister HE released a letter this week to celebrate World Malaria Day today under the theme Ready to Beat Malaria.
------
Mmmmmmm ? Given that no country has yet ever actually eradicated malaria, my guess is that next step will be a press release from H.S. stating that he can walk on water.

Alarm as 'super malaria' spreads in South East Asia
By James Gallagher
Health and science reporter, BBC News website
22 September 2017
The rapid spread of "super malaria" in South East Asia is an alarming global threat, scientists are warning.
This dangerous form of the malaria parasite cannot be killed with the main anti-malaria drugs.
It emerged in Cambodia but has since spread through parts of Thailand, Laos and has arrived in southern Vietnam.
The team at the Mahidol-Oxford Tropical Medicine Research Unit in Bangkok said there was a real danger of malaria becoming untreatable....... etc...
----
Australian fellow I know in Kampot got hit with this strain in December 2017. Last I heard was he was in hospital gravely ill.
Maybe H.S. will also soon have his Kingdom find a cure for cancer and create peaceful harmony between Jews and Muslims.

I once read a claim that malaria is the largest killer disease in the world. I do not know current statistics without googling.... either way, it is right up there

Considering that rice must be irrigated, plus an increase in aquaculture, plus many long standing pools of water in rainy season; it can safely be said they've got their work cut out for them. Figure in urban problems, I.e. blocked sewers and flooded streets and a perfect breeding climate the problem seems almost insurmountable.
As my old Cajun bait seller used to say, "I opes you luck.

The cleaning girls at my apartment sometimes leave a stem in a cup of water. After a few days, you'll see the mosquito larvae swimming around. I tried explaining in my broken Khmer to her, but I ended up just changing the water myself. Few weeks later a friend got Dengue Fever in my apartment complex.
