Second accident in two weeks on new Poipet train line

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

If anyone can snap a few pics of the new airport train in operation I'd appreciate it. I'd like to see the station at the airport too, if possible.

They might want to consider cutting down all the vegetation around all railroad crossings.

Another train collision on northern line in Poipet
23 April 2018
- Another rail accident has occurred on the newly-opened northern railway line in Banteay Meanchey province’s Poipet town, this time when a truck was attempting to cross the tracks and was struck by the train, injuring the vehicle’s driver.

The collision follows a similar accident on Saturday and another collision three weeks ago, both of which caused minor injuries to people travelling in the vehicles involved. The line, opened on April 4, connects Banteay Meanchey’s Poipet town and Mongkol Borey district, and is part of a line that will connect Phnom Penh to Thailand once completed.

The truck, laden with soil and driven by Phuong Pich, was attempting to cross the tracks despite seeing the oncoming train, and was hit in the rear end causing it to turn over into a nearby ditch, said Chhoeun Buntha, Poipet’s traffic police chief.
