No offence intended. Opinions are like butt-holes.... everybody has one.that genius wrote: ↑Tue Apr 17, 2018 7:09 am On another note, I'm really interested in your writing style, in both this thread and on another. It's almost as if you're trying too hard, but that's just my opinion.

And meanwhile, as illegal as it is under Cambodian law, children under 10 years of age are paid .7 of a cent for each clay brick they make.that genius wrote: ↑Tue Apr 17, 2018 7:34 am he stated that 'most, if not all garment manufacturers'.
Patently untrue.

Re: Sympathy for the devil
there were bar fines back the early 2000's as well and i have NEVER heard of any bar girl having to kick back any part of her "gift" from sleeping with a guy. I knew some girls that worked at bars when i lived in PP in 2008, that were not paid at all but only made drink tips but the bar did collect a bar fine, if they went offBklynBoy wrote: ↑Tue Apr 17, 2018 6:45 amwhat you mean when you say " jews" of the ___ can you clarify?Artful Dodger wrote: ↑Tue Apr 17, 2018 5:00 am About 20 years ago when I first ventured into Vietnam, the locals referred to Filipinos as the Jews of the Pacific, while Filipinos referred to Vietnamese as the Jews of Asia. I am now thinking Cambodia is a runner up, if not leading the pool.
I speak in the topic of the Girly Bars which according to Forbes economic data, is a economy/trade indicator as is the amount of rubbish delivered to the tip in New York city.
When I first ventured into Vietnam, "bar fines" in the girly bars were unheard of, but now are becoming more common. Perhaps most now demand bar fines. This precursor entered Cambodia girly bars well before it did in Vietnam and I doubt any girly bar now in HE's empire do not demand it.
That being said, I feel sympathy for the bar girl who's income seems to be reducing, while the bar owners increases. In the infamous street 136 in P.P., and in bars of Sihanoukville Square, I speak with the bar girls (impossible not to without telling them to "F" off.)
The girls tell me of the varying bar fines to be paid to take a girl out, of which the girl receives none of that. It is also the common situation that of what payment the girl is paid by her horny customer, the bar takes a percentage. Talking with a few girls at the Butterfly Bar in P.P., they told me they paid half of their payment back to the bar. I recall a few years ago where the girls at the same bar said they retained all of what their customer paid them.
I do not recall the name of the bar where a bar girl there told me she had to pay the bar $5 a day to be there looking for customers, wether she had a customer or not, and the customer still had to pay a bar fine if he took her.
Am I mistaken in my observation? Is it the case that the bar owners are increasing their takings at the expense of the bar girl?
As a economic reflection, in talking with a friend of mine who is in obtaining supply for the Korean clothing supplier she works for , she tells me it is now the case that most, if not all garment manufacturers, have introduced a system where first time employees work without salary for 3 months for what they call "training period". She tells me now creeping in, is where the employer has the new employee pay a fee to the employer for that 3 training period before receiving salary.
As far as I can remember there are always bar fines... I been coming here since about 2010
also the wages back in 2008 were aorund $60-100/month and they had a quota of bar fines that need to be paid or they would get deducted from their salary at $5/day
Not sure at all what it is now, as dont bar fine girls or bother talking with them anymore..
think ur being had...
how can anyone , ANYWHERE work for free 3 months with no salary??
Even an apprentice make some $$$ (i was one back in 1970)

??me or.....
1.how would the bar owner know how much she was paid?Talking with a few girls at the Butterfly Bar in P.P., they told me they paid half of their payment back to the bar.
2. i seriously doubt ANY BAR GIRL would agree to kick back 50% of her earnings. she'd quit, (and all her friends) and go work at another bar..
ur being played

Yeah, and at the same time, maybe tell us which Child Bricklayer's Union they are members of.frank lee bent wrote: ↑Tue Apr 17, 2018 8:09 amlike to cite a source for that?children under 10 years of age are paid .7 of a cent for each clay brick they make.
You cannot compare the two.
One is illegal, but may persist. The other is totally legal.
I suggest you ask someone at the PPP, Adhoc, and perhaps MoL for a more accurate idea of what is going on.
No bargirl ever won a Pulitzer except in the BS section.
Re: Sympathy for the devil
Its common practice in Bali. 3 month unpaid "apprenticeship", food leftovers to eat, sleep in the restaurant on cushions, a very small share of tips (Aussies are generally lousy tippers btw as its not a common practice in Australia). Then at the end of 3 months they are sacked and a new "apprentice" is put on under the same conditions. I know girls there ( sisters of friends of mine) who have worked up to 3 years under this Sc(am)heme and have never received a salary. The other 2 choices are sell yourself or subsistence (barely) farming.phuketrichard wrote: ↑Tue Apr 17, 2018 8:08 am how can anyone , ANYWHERE work for free 3 months with no salary??

Re: Sympathy for the devil
Some western places dress it up as 'internship'.
Re: Sympathy for the devil
Yup, very common now in Canada and USA for new graduates, so common in fact that there is legislation in some places meant to curb the practice (doesn't work).that genius wrote:Some western places dress it up as 'internship'.
