Septic holding tank broken at Pier Sihanoukville

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. Nothing to worry about. Just Shitsville living up to it's name and reputation. The removable of beach bars, overpriced hotels, garbage piles, broken bottles and cigarette butts littering the beach, and now liquid shit. What else could go wrong for the Chinese investor. I hope that doesn't deter the Chinese tourist. I won't be back anyway. what for?

That tank is huge, something like 100 m3.
Maybe 500 hotel rooms, many restaurants, bars and other businesses are connected to it.

Now when part of the beach is shut down why not take the opportunity to run a pipe along the beach (under the walkway)to lead the shit to the treatment plant. The business owners will happily pay.

Just walked past the tank. Still spurting out waste. The power off in area now for many hours. Wonder if this has caused the pumping system to fail!!

Can't say response from Health Officials appropriate.

Infrastucture is going to catch them out. All very good having Chinese building hotel / casinos touching the sky. Don't they think some of the customers may choose to have a break from the Roulette table and go for a walk. Sewage is not a great welcome to the beach.

Tourism must be protected as many ordinary Khmer make a living from it.

This sewage tank must be fixed properly and now!!!

Do you know if any of the locals are taking this up with the local authorities?

All the beaches close to Sihanoukville are dirty and sewer-ridden right now. Not just this latest problem at the pier - where nobody swims anyway. It will take a while to clean up the mess.
People are still swimming even though the sea is disgusting. I want to shout NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO when I see the kids swimming, but who would listen ?
At the moment the sea stinks, badly.

Could the water become so polluted it eats through the undersea fiber optic cable ?
