What do u miss about ur home country/city
For those that have left our birth country
what do u miss/think about and what made it good
I grew up in the DC area.
Miss the fall, the colors, egg nog at Xmas
Thanksgiving dinner with all the family
Sat/Sunday bike rides thru the Park ( when it was closed to cars)
the museums, The national zoo in the rain
Moved to school in SF
Sunsets over seal rock, golden gate bridge
wine tasting, Hiking Mt Tamalpais
The people, the food, the clubs
Lived in Aspen Colorado
Waking up to 12" of fresh powder, making the 1st run down Aspen Mtn.
Siting in an outdoor jacuzzi while it was snowing
Curling up with your gf in front of an open fire
Hiking up to maroon bells
These are a few of my favorite things

I miss the absence of corruption at the local level and very little higher up and freedom of speech without fearing social repercussions. I also miss the company of intelligent and curious people with a sense of humor that transcends slapstick. Oh yeah, I miss fly fishing in clear water and hence the taste of trout and salmon and I miss deer hunting in the deserted woods of Maine.
As my old Cajun bait seller used to say, "I opes you luck.

*I miss the Christmas season with the family. The whole thing! Even the cheesy music at all the malls and that annoying guy with a bell standing outside.
*Return policies.
*Red lights that actually mean STOP.
*Taco Bell (It had to be said. I just found out there's a On The Border here in Jeddah though...)
*Netflix/Hulu+ without the hassle.
*Updating ALL my Google apps without a hassle.
*Having numerous radio stations (in English).
*Pizzas delivered by drones. (Sorry, that might have been a dream I had.)
*Lowe's and ACE Hardware, and I'm not even a handy man.
*Being able to drink any water from anywhere.
*Barnes and Noble with a Starbucks inside.
*Beautiful Autumn (but NOT the winter).
*Free refills.

I used to be one of those guys with a bell. Graduate students in need of money have no pride.

All the seasons, a particular smell in the air esp. in autumn, the snow, the ice, the mountains, skiing, smoked hams and salamis, good pretzels, good butter, milk and cheese. Anarchistic Alm-öhis that shoot at police forces........and so on.
Und der Haifisch der hat Tränen
Und die laufen vom Gesicht
Doch der Haifisch lebt im Wasser
So die Tränen sieht man nicht
In der Tiefe ist es einsam
Und so manche Träne fliesst
Und so kommt es dass das Wasser
In den Meeren salzig ist

9) Being able to nail my next door neighbor with a snowball (but not have to work/drive in the snow/ice or shovel snow.)
10) Traffic laws that are enforced.(but not over enforced)
11) Auto parts stores
