What do you do when you find a Sleeping Cashier? (Kampot Poll)

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

What do you do when you find a Sleeping Cashier? (Kampot Poll)

Post by General Mackevili »

From the OIC- Only in Cambodia Group:

"You go to pay your bill and find that the cashier won't wake up to your voice, taps on the shoulder nor a car horn blaring ~10m away. He's the only human in sight.

Do you:

A) Leave without paying

B) Leave and come back to pay later

C) Pinch his phone

D) Put exact change on the table in front of him and hope nobody else picks it up

E) Find a bucket of water

The question is why do healthy young people feel the need to fall asleep during the day?

I'll tap him if it didn't work I'll shake him by his shoulder. Worst case is kick that chair away under him.

Because it is very healthy to sleep after lunch. They get up early and sleep after lunch like in a lot of hot countries.
Doesn't everyone do this in Cambodia ?
Spoiler:
Yes i do it too.
I would leave the money under his school books on the table with the bill.
And then I would go and have myself a nice siesta. :D

I chose "bucket of water"because there was no "wake the guy up" option. I wouldn't try to leave anywhere without paying here, it would all seem easy until suddenly a greasy chef comes running out of the back room and swings at you with a cleaver. And then proceeds to get the whole neighborhood to take pot-shots at you.
Silence, exile, and cunning.
