HAPPY

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

I am in no position to pass judgement on the movies you viewed, however the whole ritual sounds more like some ill defined act of atonement than a concession.

I actually really like Prahok, especially when it comes with all the trimmings and eaten properly

Well cheers on going native. May all your British brekies have a side of prahok. Personally, I find the flavor and the smell disgusting. Perhaps similar to an unlaundered pile of whorehouse panties that have festered in corner for several months, only saltier

I've always thought it tasted good. I think some people are put off when they encounter some of the smellier varieties.

I agree, It really depends on the "terroir".
Some are actually really tasty, others not so much.
The smell of it being made is universally gut-churning though, like fetid sweaty socks, on a dead rat, mixed with, well, rotten fish.

About women's day, :trollz:
How could we afford to have such a thing, or things like valentines day, or all those incidental costs borne (nearly always by men) in the pursuit of getting laid, ah, forming relationships, without an income disparity?
